My personal experience at The Whitney left me speechless. From the moment I entered the mansion, I was captivated by the grandeur and elegance of the surroundings. “ What a wonderful brunch experience at The Whitney. Great choice in food. Service was excellent and being in the beauty of the mansion was such a treat. Highly recommend this brunch. ”
“ Went to the Whitney for thanksgiving dinner. The house itself was very cool and had the feel of a haunted old manor. Dinner was very good with the fixed menu of butternut squash soup, traditional turkey and dessert sampler. ”
“ Attended the high tea, preceded by an interior tour of the lovely prominent building with six friends for a milestone birthday celebration for all. Tour started slightly late and staff seemed a little disorganized when first serving the champagne/mimosas but that was the only downside. Our knowledgeable guide showed us several rooms, explaining key details of the ownership and history and showcasing the stained glass windows, Tiffany light fixtures and ornate staircase. Some staff shared interesting stories of interactions with spirits on the grounds. High tea was elegant yet fun. We were impressed the tea pots were kept hot over flame and the petite sandwiches, sweet and savory pastries and desserts were tasty. We even each received complimentary mini ice cream sundaes with candles to blow out while serenaded Happy Birthday by staff and piano player. Cost was about $108 each including valet service. Pricey but a unique memorable experience. We took lots of photos inside and out. ”
“ The Whitney for my birthday this visit. Incredible ambience and delicious food with an after dinner espresso martini in the ghost bar for dessert! Loved it all!!! ”
“ We'd heard this place is nice. It's beyond that. Nicest venue in the Detroit area in my opinion. From a friendly greeting from valet parking, to host, seating, and service. It was wonderful. This is a 130 year-old mansion with numerous rooms on three levels. Perfect for special occasions or date night. If it's your first time here, they offer a free guided historical tour (do tip) and we'd recommend that. Ghost bar on third floor is cool. We were seated in the formal dining room. It was wonderful. There is a secret room off to the side here. See if you can find it. Service was perfect. Maddie gets an A+ for sure. Staff is obviously very well trained. A very well managed place. Manager stopped by twice. Nice guy. Very professional. We had the Beef Wellington. It was delicious. Nice portions too. Sides and bread were delicious too. Prices are reasonable for what they deliver. Enter off Woodward. Drive slowly - easy to miss the entrance. Use valet as other parking costs as much in area. Very happy we visited this spot. I hear Sunday brunch is fantastic. We'll be back. ”
